Excellent piece by Jemma Slingo in the Law Society Gazette last week on how class actions are 'going mainstream'.
The piece highlights that as more cases come down the pipeline the practicalities of how group litigation is managed and paid for needs to keep up with changing attitudes.
We,at DISPUTED.IO would add that technology plays a key role in this.
It ensures that:
1. Firms can keep up with the demand
2. Allows lawyers to secure the best and most competitive funding deal for their clients and;
3. Saves time and money.
large claimant groups are making headway in the English court system, while litigation funding is shrugging off its champertous past and flying the flag for social justice. As more mega-claims hit London courts, however, the practicalities of how group litigation is managed and paid for need to keep up with changing attitudes – or risk undermining the model’s new-found reputation.
